Some Good Tips for Desktop Hard ware Owners

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

From discount funky laptop computer cases. Be prepared. Now the fault of some people who own PC Components is that they think that their Computers will not fail them. Well the reality is that Computer components eventually fail. It is not a question of if they will fail but rather it is really a question of when they will. So, part of a responsible Desktop Hardware owner is to accept this fact and prepare, wallet included, in the inevitable.

To prevent major inconveniences, it would be best to get warranties for the components that you bought. If possible, increasing the number of years on the warranty card would be not so bad a setup. Other people want their products off the warranty to save some money on their purchase but in long run, you actually save more if you buy products under a good warranty service. You’ll never know if the component will fail this month or the month after that, so it would be best to have a return policy with your purchase which also serves as a protection for consumers.

Part of the preparation is to protect your data. Stored data in your hard drive needs to be backed up on a regular basis. If your hard drive fails you at this moment, can you honestly say that you will not scream in panic? That’s a good way to judge if you need to back up your system right away. Desktop Components failure can come without any warning so it is pretty good sense to be prepared. You can back up on discs or buy an external hard drive. These come pretty cheap nowadays compared to a few years back.

Keep your applications or software updated as well. An updated system usually does not compromise the overall performance of your Computer system. This includes updated virus software which is pretty important to keep a smooth running Personal Computer especially if you’re connected to the internet. There are lots of spyware, adware, malware and virus in the internet that you can get and potentially mess up your system. Updating an anti-spyware program would be a great idea as well.

Be cautious when installing bundled software especially if you downloaded them from questionable sources. Software that usually offers something free like music, pictures or even free software. These zip files usually contain some adware or spyware components which automatically infects your Computer when you extract the folder.

By keeping your Components as well as software well maintained, you can avoid some splitting headaches in the future.

Fast facts on Desktop Computer Components

Monday, February 15th, 2010

From inexpensive Lenovo laptop computers. Knowledge of Desktop Hardware is the very basic thing that one needs to know if he or she has plans of starting up a personal Desktop (PC) from a scratch. This is because if one is knowledgeable on this, he or she would know how to choose the components needed and that person could also save up some money since he or she can opt for lesser known brands.

The most basic Computer Components includes the monitor, the keyboard, and the mouse. But, there are so many Computer Hardware components needed to make the Computer perform its function. Aside from the physical components, you will also need operating system and a number of software. The following are some of the basic components of Computer Components and its specifications:

The Central Processing Unit or CPU: This is directly related to the “motherboard” which is the very body of the Desktop Computer itself. For the CPU to perform its functions as the brain of the Personal Computer, it needs: a heat sink and fan; the chip set which is responsible for bridging the CPU to other components of the system; the memory or the RAM which is responsible for running processes and applications; the BIOS that includes power management and boot firmware; and the Basic Input Output System which handles the operating system drivers.

The power supply: Since Computers depend on electricity as the power source, the power supply is needed to make sure that everything will work. Components of power supply include the power cord, the switch, and the cooling fan.

The video display controller: This is responsible for producing the output for the visual display unit and is usually built into the motherboard or sometimes attached in its own separate slot such as the PCI, the PCI-E, the PCI-E 2.0, or the AGP like a graphics card.

The removable media devices: This mainly refer to the Personal Computer storage. The most common removable media devices – which are suitable for data and music – in a personal Desktop Computer include the Floppy disk which is considered as an outdated storage device; the Zip drive which has a higher capacity than Floppy disk, the compact disc (CD), the CD-ROM Drive to read data; the CD Writer to read and write data on the CD; DVD which is a higher memory type of CD; the DVD-ROM Drive; the DVD Writer; the DVD-RAM Drive for express reading and writing; the Blu-ray Disc for high-density data storage and high-definition videos; the BD-ROM Drive, the BD Writer; and the USB flash drive which is flash device used for memory data storage and has big capacity.

The different kinds of Desktop Computer Wares

Monday, February 8th, 2010

From affordable Laptops. Your PC may seem like it is  made up of the keyboard, the mouse and the monitor but this is only because these are things that you frequently see  and use. The truth is, there is more to Personal Computers than meets the eye. Literally. In fact, its most important parts are actually hidden from the eyes and housed in a  box that you often feel to be too bulky.

You don’t realize that without this big box, you will not have an operating Personal Computer. This is called the CPU or  the central processing unit. The CPU together with the monitor makes up the PC Components. The Computer Hard ware refers to the parts that people can physically touch. The Hardware includes  the processor for which the brand INTEL is famous for, the motherboard where all the parts are adhered to, the hard disk where you will store all the files that you have, the memory which helps keep multiple processes manageable and the graphic and sound card which allows you to be more  interactive. The monitor on the other hand is entirely separate from the CPU. It is where we view all the Desktop work that we do.

This is the counterpart of the programs and the operating system that can be found inside the Desktop Computer. This is called the software, because it cannot be touched physically. It is just inside the Personal Computer. It is the windows that you use everyday right from the moment that you open the Computer. It is the Microsoft office that you tinker with or the solitaire game that you relax with during lunchtimes.

Both the Hard ware and software parts of the Computer is important. The Parts is the one that makes all the processes possible. It converts data and presents it in a way that is understandable for  you. The software on the other hand makes it more easier for you to manage and do. The truth is Computers deal with numbers that will completely be alien language to most people. Having these two interact allows you to create files and make use of these processes in your daily life.

Another important part of the Desktop Computer is the people ware which is you  the user. Without someone who will operate the Computer, it will not work. It needs the commands that only you can give whether you do it by typing commands or by clicking the mouse.

Buying Personal Computer Hardware: what you need to know

Monday, February 1st, 2010

From cheap notebook computer messenger bag. So your Personal Computer bogged down and now you are on the hunt for a brand new Personal Computer. The problem is the friend who helped you choose your old Personal Computer is living in another state now and frankly, you are just lost when it comes to Personal Computer shopping.

First things first, before you decide to buy a new Desktop Computer, make sure that you know what the problem is with your old one. You may not realize it but you may not even need to change the whole Desktop Computer. Sometimes, you just need to change the peripheral parts like the keyboard or the monitor. But when the CPU or the central processing unit is the one with the problem, you might need to start budgeting for a new one. This  is where all the Desktop Computer Components can be found. Computer Hardware is the one that makes the Personal Computer work.

Here are some of the thins that you need to know when Ordering a Computer.

What’s there to fix?
Just because your Desktop does not work does not  mean that you will need to change the entire set. Often, when it bogs down, only one part is the culprit  and you can change that part while  still retaining the others. Of course, this depends on what that part is. Sometimes, you also need to change a major part of the Desktop and doing so  will cost you the same amount of money that you will spend when you buy a new one. So before you start to budget, have it checked.

What do you need it for?
Another important question to ask yourself is what you need the PC for. This will determine the kind of Hard ware and specifications that you need to buy to satisfy your requirements. A person for instance who is more into word processing will not need a Computer with a powerful graphics card  or sound card. Someone who only  use it for music and not for word processing will need a big hard disk space and of course a set of powerful speakers.

What is your budget?
A lot will depend upon the amount of money that you are willing to spend. If you want a PC that will last you several years, be prepared to spend a little bit more than the usual. This way, you will be able to  choose the brands that are known for their long life  and sturdiness.

What are the Top 10 laptops for the Office

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

In nowadays’ consumer society where everybody produces and tries to sell their products, it is obvious that there is a tremendous competition among the various manufacturers. It is obvious that each company or producer, no matter in what field of activity, will always try to sell their products by pretending theirs are the best or at least better than the others’. Not only do producers insist to emphasize the quality of their products but there are also different analysts and ordinary people – consumers who come up with their own classifications of the different products on the market. This obviously happens in the field of computers, laptops and computer components too. For one interested in classifications, the Internet is the best source for information on top ten laptops.

It is evident that each individual has his/her own preferences when it comes to computers and laptops. Therefore, you will find different top 10 laptops classified depending on the various factors that people have in mind when deciding which laptops are better than others. The size is an important factor to analyze since people who travel a lot need small, light models, even the tiny ultra portable ones like the Asus Eee PC. Other buyers closely investigate the RAM memory, responsible for data storage capacity, yet the higher the memory size, the more expensive the product. Last but not least, screen resolution is one final element to decide whether an item deserves to be part of the top 10 laptops chart or not.

To give an example of what top 10 laptops lists look like, we invite you to take a look at the next compilation that presents the products progressively from the first to  the tenth: Apple MacBook Pro, Asus m70sa, Sony Vaio VGN-AR590E, Asus C90, Dell Inspiron 1525, Alienware m15x, Fujitsu Lifebook 8410, Lenovo ThinkPad R61, Apple MacBook Air, and Acer Ferrari 500. Such lists are compiled starting from the technical data posted on the official Internet pages of each and every producer.

Another chart design of top 10 laptops includes the following notebook, laptop, : Acer Aspire One AOA110-1295 Notebook, Acer Aspire ONE A150-1447 Notebook, Apple 15″ MacBook Pro Notebook, Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Notebook – Customizable, HP (Hewlett-Packard) Pavilion Dv4-1120us Notebook, Sony Vaio Ns135 Notebook, Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Notebook, Apple 13.3″ MacBook Notebook, Asus Eee PC 1000H Notebook, Acer Aspire 6930-6455 Notebook. Although the two models of top 10 laptops resemble a lot, the slight difference points out that this charting system is not 100% trustworthy due to the high versatility of the computer market.

Finding Network Cables for Computer set up

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

From cheap used ThinkPad laptops. When setting up a personal Computer (PC), one of the major considerations should be quality of networking available. Since you need to ensure that there will be faster connection to, you must make sure that the Computer network cables you will be using are efficient for this type of work.

Advantages of network cables

Wired networking for Desktops depends greatly on cables and wires. This is why choosing what kind of network cable to use is very important. In the market today, there are basically two general categories of cable-the copper and the glass.

For those who don’t have much money to spend, copper wires are more ideal since these can be cheaper. But if the Personal Computer rental owner is after quality, glass is ideal. Since it has over 100 meters, it is suitable for almost anything because it has a lot of electromagnetic interference fields.

Another consideration in choosing network cables for Desktop Computer is the exact specification of what to be used. You need to properly specify which one you really need. Experts recommend Cat5e or Cat6 cable because these are the most common and dependable networks cables being used by many in the industry today because these are good in moving data over a fast network in no time.

The trend in Computer networks these days is getting wireless. However, this type of network is prone to many problems that is why many people-especially first time owners-still prefer to use hard-wired networks. This is because wired and cable networks are faster, more secure, and generally, more stable compared to its wireless counterpart.

Experts say that for those who are just starting in using a Personal Computer, wired networks are still preferred because these can run at 1000 megabits per second (Mbps) compared to wireless networks that have run at the top speed of just about 50 Mbps. Aside from speed, another reason why wired network cables is ideal because of its security. Many Personal Computer owners prefer wired networks because these can protect their resources better compared to wireless networks that are open and available to everybody that has wireless device.

Experts, because of its stability, also prefer wired networks. This is because they believe that it is the best way to go for the owner to protect his or her investment. Although wired networks can be also prone problems, its extent is much smaller compared to wireless networks that are subject to too interference slows down the entire system.

What You Should Know About Computer Lendings

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Brought to you by affordable Apple laptops.

Almost everyone has a PC. These come in different configurations, colors and sizes. But if you can’t afford to buy a new one, you have no choice but to settle with what you have right now even if it is now that good anymore. Fortunately, there is another option and that is to avail of PC Lendings.

But what are Personal Computer Leases? Basically, these are companies that allow you to borrow a Personal Computer for a certain period of time at a set fee. Most of those who borrow are people who have poor or bad credit while there are those who have to get it because their current unit is being serviced at the Store.

Whichever the case, you have to compare the rates of the various companies offering PC Leases first before signing the contract.

Some of the things included in the contract are the duration which you will borrow the Computer, the rate at which you agreed to borrow it and extra fees you will have to pay if ever you returned it late.  If you need to borrow it much longer, inform the company you got it from in advance so arrangements can be made.

Most companies that offer Lendings can be found online. After filling up the form and telling them any special request, only then will they be able to tell you if they have what you need and how much it will cost.

One of the nicest things about Computer Rentals is that if the Computer ceases to function, the company will send a replacement unit. But before this happens, you can even avail of a certain package which offers maintenance services.

Payment for renting these units is not that different than paying for other products and services since those who run it will honor payments through credit card and PayPal if they don’t have an office and cash if there is one within your neighborhood.

A lot of people don’t know this but the cost of renting a Computer is twice the price for a new PC that you can purchase from a store. You might think that people who do this are crazy but then again, these individuals have no choice when they have poor credit and those who own Personal Computers have brought theirs to the repair Shop.

It is because of this dilemma that enables owners of Computer Loan Businesss to stay in business even in the digital age.

Do we have any other choice? The answer is yes. Those of us who need to use the Personal Computer can go to an internet café and use the Personal Computers there which are charged by the hour or we can try to buy a second hand Personal Computer from auction sites.

But PC Leases have their advantages. For one, the government gives people tax benefits to those who operate their businesses by leasing  these types  office equipment. This means they save cash so that when their business is doing well, they have the option to buy the leased Computer from the Lease company or they can buy a brand new one.

With that, you can say PC Rentals are not that bad even if they charge so much. Remember, this is only temporary just like staying in a hotel for a few days when you decide to go for vacation.

The Emergence of MP3 Players

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 or in short, MP3, is the common audio format used to transfer music to the digital audio player and playing back. Moving Picture Experts Group designed MP3. This Group consisted of Fraunhofer of Germany, CCETT, AT&T-Bell Labs of USA and Thomson-Brandt, besides others. The ISO/IEC standard was conferred on MP3 in 1991.

MP3 compressed the original audio without any loss of its original quality. The reduction in data was convenient for recording and storage. A CD file could be compressed with MP3 to one-tenth of its original size. This could be achieved with 128 kbits/s which is a mid-range bit rate setting. Auditory masking is done that gives this compression. It was in 1994 that the first MP3 software encoder was introduced. The file extension name originally was .bit. This was altered to .mp3 in 1995. In the same year, Winplay3 was launched. This was the first real time software encoder to be introduced in the market. Very soon, audio files conversion to MP3 files began. These could be played back in the personal computers. MP3 became a rave hit and the Internet hastened its fame. MP3 soon became much used assisted by Winamp that was released in 1997 and the Unix audio player mpg123 in 1998. MP3 began to be offered free in the later part of 1997 when mp3.com itself offered it free. Compact discs were now ripped and peer to peer transfer of music files became rampant. The launch of Napster in 1999 further fueled large scale peer to peer file transfers. Copyright violations proliferated with allegations flying around. No doubt there was a spate of litigations in the court.

MP3 players are mainly of three categories. There are those that are based on hard drives, micro hard drives and flash based. The larger and heavier amongst them is the hard drive based MP3 players. They have a large capacity of ten gigabytes or more comprising some 2,900 MP3 files. The micro hard rive based players are similar but compact and smaller in size and internal storage capacity. They typically have six gigabytes holding about 1,700 MP3 files. Both these categories of players have rechargeable batteries. The flash based MP3 players are very compact without any moving parts, use minimal power but having a low capacity ranging from 32 megabytes to two gigabytes. WiFi connectivity was introduced to enable download of music from the Internet and the first one to be introduced was Sandisk Sansa Connect 4GB MP3 player.

While the unauthorized sharing continues extensively, many companies began selling music in MP3 format such as Xiie.net, Bleep, Juno Records, Beatport, eMusic, Amazon.com and Zune Marketplace. There have been patent and licensing related disputes over MP3 involving Thomson Consumer Electronics, Fraunhofer Institute, Sisvel S.p.A., SanDisk, Texas MP3 Technologies, Apple, Samsung Electronics, Texas MP3 Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent and some more.

How Bryan saved me from a slow computer

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I have of late been suffering due to a very slow and irritating computer in fact it has annoyed me so much I was bitching about it in a local bar. The man I was chatting to was Bryan a good mate of mine and total nerd. I mentioned the problem to Brain and sought his advise on purchasing a new computer system. Bryan thought about what I had said and while fiddling with his ginger beard replied with “You wont need to get a new computer”. I explained once more to Bryan who annoyed I was with my computer in fact I was so annoyed I thought about running it over with my car. In fact I was somewhat annoyed with Bryan for not recognizing my pain. However Bryan went on to explain his thinking further and said “I think the problem you have is Windows registry errors mate”. I guess what Bryan said would make sense to most computer guys but to me it was gobbledygook what Bryan said makes sense to computer savvy guys but to me it was like another language. Trying to avoid looking silly I made the decision to carry on as if I knew what he was talking about “I see” I replied. At this point Bryan had clearly noticed from the spaced out look in my eyes that I really had no idea what he was talking about. He produced a pen and paper and wrote upon the paper the web site fix-this-computer.com. He then went on to explain that I should visit this site and look under the fix windows registry errors section and from this I should select an option for a free registry scan which would identify and registry errors present on my computer and after this would give me the option to repair them. I took the advice Bryan gave me a followed it to the letter now my computer runs perfectly.
